NAILSEA BRISTOL, FULL PREPARATION AND POUR PROJECT

LIQUID SCREED SPECIALISTS: NAILING IT IN NAILSEA, BRISTOL

Location: NAILSEA, BRISTOL
Sector: COMMERCIAL
Area: 500 m2

The Liquid Screed Specialists team has just wrapped up an epic project in Nailsea, Bristol—and let us tell you, this one was a challenge from the very start.

Kicking off on Saturday, we’ve worked tirelessly ever since to deliver a high-quality finish. The first hurdle? Tackling high spots in the original concrete slab—no mean feat, we can tell you! Once that was conquered, we moved on to scabbing almost 500m² of the existing slab. With the surface prepped, it was time to break out the hoovers and clean the area to within an inch of its life.

Next came two coats of primer, followed by installing an 8mm edging strip around all perimeter walls. With the groundwork set, we placed over 200 tripods to ensure perfect levels throughout.

And finally, the big pour! Today we poured 35m³ of screed using Tarmac’s innovative new thin product—resulting in a perfectly flat floor.

A huge thank you to the Tarmac team, who were absolutely amazing from start to finish. From booking, batching, to delivery, every step was spot-on. We appreciate all your effort and support.

Great to help this artist create a dedicated workspace at this garage conversion in Cardiff.

Up early on a Saturday (yes, we work weekends too) to get the job completed, so the builder would be able to return to work and walk on this floor on Monday. That's the great thing about Cemex's Longfloor Flowscreed product, it dries so quickly that you are able to walk on it within 24 to 48 hours. Here's another example nearby in South Wales using Cemex ~Longfloor.

Within a few hours, the LSS team had created their own work of art with this smooth finished floor screed in Cardiff.

Happy customer, happy team. Onto the next job.

Liquid Screeding Useful Tips

Preparing Floor Before Liquid Screed

Before liquid screed is applied, make the building as water tight as possible. Minimally, with at least the roof in place and any missing glazing or door openings should be temporarily sealed. For example, for sealing you could use polythene, insulation or ply.

Liquid Screeds Aftercare

Before any adhered floor covering can be laid, liquid screeds require surface sanding. Ideally, this should be carried out immediately before the floor finish application. Consequently, this removes any surface contamination that may have occurred and creates a rougher surface for priming and bonding.
